Maggie Fung
B.Sc, PBD (Guidance Studies), A.C (HRMG), Master in Counselling Student Counsellor [email protected] Maggie is committed, dedicated and passionate about creating a space of safety, comfortability and inclusivity where humans can experience whatever they need to flourish into who they truly want to be. Maggie has supported 1-on-1 with neurodiverse children between the ages of 4-17 mainly diagnosed (but not exclusive to) with Autism, and ADHD for the past 8 years, and additionally supported staff in the management and HR management role to promote mental health wellness and work life balance for the past 4 years. She has experience in how to navigate the system of Autism funding, supported families in navigating those services, and has collaborated with Behaviour Analysts, Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and school teachers/staff (integrating Individualized Education Plans [IEP’s] into 1-on-1 goals). Maggie strives to be the open, approachable, caring, empathic, compassionate, bubbly, and a humorous person in your life. She takes a person-centred, trauma-informed, strengths-based, collaborative and play-based (for the younger ones!) approach. Additionally, Maggie’s approach is grounded in Narrative, and Acceptance and Commitment therapy, while weaving and sprinkling in aspects of Solution Focused, Dialectical and Cognitive Behavioural Therapeutic techniques to discover our potential and strength, while recognizing our resiliency towards an ever-growing life journey. Finding an approach that feels right for you is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle. You are Maggie’s number one priority, and fostering the therapeutic relationship and alliance is something she emphasizes. She is passionate about working with neurotypical and neurodivergent children (ages 6+), adolescence, teens, adults and anyone just trying to find their place in the world. Maggie wishes to become certified as a play therapist as soon as she completes her master’s degree. Additionally, she hopes to continuously grow her repertoire of ways she can wholeheartedly develop into a better support person for her clients. |
